You can just drop it for them, sometimes that\u2019s easier.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start walking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Click and treat your dog walking next to you, in that reward zone, just one or two steps at first! Build up the number of steps that your dog walks next to you, little by little,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Add the leash and harness<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you\u2019ve got some steps going on, add a <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/en-us\/blog\/puppy-training\/lead-training\/best-puppy-training-leads\/\">leash<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/en-us\/blog\/new-puppy\/puppy-essentials\/picking-your-puppy-harness\/\">harness<\/a>, but we\u2019re still training clicker leash walking in that low distraction environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Move outside<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Walk up and down the same street when clicker leash training, so your dog gets reading their pee mails out of the way, and it\u2019s no longer distracting for them. Click and treat them when their head is up, and they\u2019re walking next to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practice clicker leash training&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Anywhere and everywhere. Teach your dog that walking next to you is the best thing ever, and that you\u2019re the center of their world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Click and treat randomly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your dog can walk with clicker leash training reliably, you can start to randomly reward how many steps they\u2019re doing for a click and treat. This works a bit like a slot machine, and keeps them guessing, resulting in stronger behavior and less leash pulling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will clicker training solve my puppy pulling?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, clicker training can be successfully used for leash pulling in puppies, and many other behaviors in fact like <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/en-us\/blog\/puppy-training\/commands\/puppy-recall-training\/\">teaching your puppy to come back<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/en-us\/blog\/puppy-training\/commands\/how-to-teach-a-dog-to-play-dead\/\">tricks<\/a> and teaching them <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/blog\/puppy-training\/training-basics\/how-to-stop-your-puppy-from-jumping-on-people\/\">not to jump up<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Puppies are naturally curious and will <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/en-us\/blog\/puppy-training\/lead-training\/how-to-stop-a-puppy-pulling-on-a-lead\/\">pull on the leash<\/a> to get to stuff they want to investigate.
