Here\u2019s our top tips for beating the heat and keeping your pup safe in the summer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check the weather forecast and plan for the next day &#8211; it\u2019s OK to adjust your <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/blog\/puppy-training\/training-basics\/puppy-walking-schedule\/\">walking routine<\/a>, or simply skip a walk if it\u2019s going to be too hot. No puppy or dog ever got sick from missing a walk.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Walk in shady areas, near rivers and streams, if it\u2019s safe for your puppy. Then they can go in for a dip or <a href=\"https:\/\/zigzag.dog\/puppy-training\/training-basics\/how-to-teach-your-puppy-to-swim-in-5-steps\/\">swim<\/a> and cool down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep your puppy indoors during the hottest parts of the day, so they\u2019re not tempted to sunbathe and overheat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use fans or air-conditioning if you have it &#8211; it\u2019s fine to use a fan on a puppy, and it will help air to circulate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide plenty of water.
