The trainer will be looking, and coaching you as you go along, with help and feedback.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the practice, the group will come together, and talk over how it went. This is where you\u2019ll have time to ask the trainer any questions or concerns &#8211; perfect.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The trainer should then send you a recording of the lesson, as well as video recaps of the exercises they taught in short clips. Gotta say that these are great to keep up the good work outside of class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits of Live Online Puppy Classes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You get access to a live dog trainer for your class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The trainer will usually demo with their own dog or show you videos of the exercises you\u2019re going to learn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can discuss things with other students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your puppy gets to learn and practice their lessons where they\u2019ll need them the most &#8211; in their own home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your puppy is more relaxed and focused \u2013 in person classes can be stressful for many puppies. Too much of everything!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your puppy can take more breaks when they need to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can start training before your puppy has had their vaccinations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cheaper than in person classes &#8211; in both time and money.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pyjama Training \u2013 yay!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Drawbacks of Live Online Puppy Classes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You won\u2019t get to meet other puppies in person.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll need to work more on distractions outside of class &#8211; one day they\u2019ll <em>have <\/em>to leave the house!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your puppy might be having an off night when the class is on. Yes, puppies can have tantrums too.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your puppy might be asleep when the class is on \u2013 and yes, can\u2019t disturb a sleeping puppy! Lottie, my Great Dane student, can vouch for that. Simply decided her lesson time would be nap time.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More costly than apps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More costly than self-study programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generally, a fixed time of the week for lessons.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Less flexible than apps or self-study courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trainer will have a number of students to focus on at once.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can be a large class size, which isn\u2019t ideal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Zoom fatigue is real for owners!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need to have enough space to film your dog during the class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliant on you having reliable internet connection. Don\u2019t get me started on the struggle for this one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Self-Study Online Puppy Training<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A self-study online puppy training course is one where the trainer has pre-recorded lessons for you to follow at your own pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They usually have a set curriculum to work through with your puppy \u2013 they tend to go like Week 1, Week 2, and so on.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the nitty gritty on self-study online puppy training:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits of Self Study Online Puppy Training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can do the lessons at your own pace, and more importantly, at your puppy\u2019s pace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can watch short video clips whenever it\u2019s convenient to you.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More budget-friendly than Live Online Classes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to a library of learning materials. Yes, it does feel like a whole library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You may have access to a Facebook group or other online forum to ask questions&#8230;and make potential puppy owner friends? Yes, please.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Drawbacks of Self Study Online Puppy Training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You\u2019ll have to keep yourself motivated to continue with the training. Won\u2019t lie, this can be a tricky one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No live support or coaching from a trainer. Sad times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inability to ask questions in real time \u2013 it can take time to access support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generally, these are browser based so you have to have a good-ish internet connection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doesn\u2019t allow for individual dog differences \u2013&nbsp; one-size-fits-all sadly doesn\u2019t work for puppies.
